We spent May 1st long weekend in Prague. We did not spend to much time with preparation - didn't even arrange accomodation in advance. There were 4 of us in one car, ideal for optimising travel and accomodation costs.

We left Budapest at about 8 a.m. We stopped in Kutna Hora to see the chapel with ossuary (bone chapel) and the Cathedral of St. Barbara. The ossuary is smaller than we expected. However the cathedral is worth seeing both outside and inside. We left for Prague at about 2 p.m. 

We started to look for a hotel in the suburbs but found scarcely any. Those we found were shabby and expensive. After 1,5 hours we found a superb aparthotel. Its name is Aparthotel City 5. It was clean, comfortable, with excellent reception, well-equipeed kitchen, 10 minutes' walk from Tesco, 16 minutes' walk from the Castle, 2 minutes' walk from tramline.

 We were walking in the old city in the evening and had dinner in an outer district. Our landlady advised not to pay more than 300 CZK for a dinner or more than 40 CZK for a beer.

On the second day we started in the Castle. There were a lot of tourists. We could not get in the St. Vitus Cathedral, the que was much too long. However, on Sunday you can get in without standing in a que even in high season if you tell the guard that you are going to the mass. Though you need to wait till the end of the mass to get out. 

Visiting the buildings in the castle is tricky. You need to buy a ticket either for a short or a long circle if you want to have a closer look at the Golden Lane for example.

In the afternoon we returned to the old city. Prague is a very pleasant city. Food is very delicious in almost all places. Restaurant Svejk was disappointment, but U Fleku is a great place, though quite expensive.
